I love the challenge of creating an artwork for a specific situation. This requires that I be sensitive to the chosen location and perceptive about the context, and then allow the process to inspire a concept which captures the spirit of the place, the people, and the project. Then I find the form that gives expression to all of these, bringing together materials and design to create a compelling work of art.
Public art projects present exciting challenges to respond to complex criteria and to connect with communities. Wherever appropriate, I design the process to enable dialogue and exchange, to build skills, and to increase community buy-in.
